The distribution manager role will lead an enterprise focused on the distribution of various products, concentrating on moving from a an enterprise focused on the delivery of publications to a more diversified delivery of other products that utilize the complex delivery system. This role manages the logistics and financial success of an enterprise focused on customer service.
Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to):
•Manage the team of employee to achieve department and enterprise goals. This includes District Managers, Single Copy Assistant, Insert Coordinator and Dock managers.
•Contract a team of carriers to deliver all products.
•Create and maintain an organizational structure that will work in tandem with the circulation department and enterprise i.e. customer service representatives, department managers.
•Responsible for the delivery of all products in a timely and cost effective manner.
•Able to evaluate and implement efficiencies in order to continue to add new products to the distribution process.
•Seek out and procure new products to the line of products being delivered through our resources.
•Ability to maintain accurate accounting of all operations, both costs and revenue. Continually finding ways to reduce costs and maintain profitability of product delivery.
•Act as the liaison between GPC and the companies that deliver products to GPC to be delivered, ie. •Newspapers, Magazines and other products to be determined.
•Develop and practice competent analysis of our operations in order to evaluate our work and grow through testing and experimentation.
•Develop a successful Alternate Delivery operation though selection, contracting, training, coaching and motivation of a high quality distribution force to meet delivery expectations of our TMC product.
•Maintain current and up to date distribution schedule, with adequate coverage at all times, monitor needs and update as necessary.
•Assists in and maintains standards of circulation service for subscribers, single copy buyers, carriers retailers and other customers to their satisfaction.
•Coach and evaluate staff to those standards. Perform analytical functions as needed to facilitate inspection. •Develop professional skills in employees through consistent feedback and performance evaluations.
•Interact with the other divisions in the department, enterprise and external customers in order to achieve satisfactory delivery outcomes.
•Other duties as assigned.
•Ability to interact with others and remain focused while dealing with multiple objectives and timelines.
•Capable of dealing with stress-related situations with an unwavering commitment to customer service.
•Self-motivation with ability to work independently.
•Past supervisory experience is preferred.
•Basic accounting knowledge
•Ability to work flexible schedule; primarily early morning.
•Strong people and organizational skills with ability to set priorities and give attention to detail.
•Ability to work in a team setting and embrace the concept of teamwork.
