About the Job
The Local Circulation Sales Manager works under the direction of the Publisher/Chief Revenue Officer to manage all aspects of circulation subscription, single copy and NIE sales. Assists the Regional Circulation Sales Manager in the planning and evaluation of ongoing initiatives and goals. This position will supervise and work with the local sales staff to grow circulation audience, revenue and profitability. The local circulation sales staff will report to this position.
Manage local market efforts to support and grow circulation base and circulation revenue. Responsible for influencing, tracking and projecting local circulation revenue.
Work with Regional Circulation Sales Manager to optimize circulation pricing and rating structures. Assist Regional Circulation Sales Manager in recommending HD and SC circulation rate structures for their local newspaper.
Oversee local customer service liaison responsibility between circulation sales and circulation operations.
Maintain the efficient operation of circulation sales and customer service functions at the local level.
Assist Regional Sales Manager in managing all aspects of sales vendor relationships, including rates, agreements, sales productivity and billing quality.
Responsible for local NIE funding and implementation of home delivery sales production campaigns, news racks and single copy over-the-counter POP, single copy draw management and returns cost reduction, direct response and contractor sales programs.
Assist in the creation, development and implementation of all facets of sales promotions, including tracking results, sales reporting, commission payouts and cost- per-order.
Manage local retention including verification, at-risk new starts and post-stop contacts.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
BS/BA degree in Sales, marketing or business field or equivalent combination of 5+ years in a related field including managerial experience.
Minimum 3 - 5 years circulation sales experience including responsibility for the budgeting process.
Proven record of increasing sales, building effective teams and driving innovation.
Deep analytical skills.
