The Catholic Diocese of Richmond, VA is seeking a Digital Communications Writer/Web Content Coordinator to support the Communications Director and the mission of the Office of Communications by proactively developing, monitoring, overseeing and providing written content for diocesan (homepage) website, which is reflective of the voice and priorities of the Bishop of Richmond.
The Digital Communications Writer/Web Content Coordinator will write, edit and update website content for the homepage of www.richmonddiocese.org. In addition, the successful candidate will publish press releases, statements, reports and letters to the website, draft web communications for the Office of Communications, and manage the online diocesan events calendar on www.richmonddiocese.org. Will also assist the Communications Director with writing when needed.
Must be a practicing Catholic in good standing, with good working knowledge of the structure and acceptance of the teachings of the Catholic Church.
The successful candidate must also have a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Journalism, Computer Science, or website-related field. At least 2-3 years in website editing and maintenance, at least 2-3 years using web content management systems (Ektron and WordPress are a plus) and at least 1-2 years graphic design experience. Required skills include proficiency in MS Word, HTML5, CSS, Adobe Photoshop (experience with InDesign, Dreamweaver, and FTP a plus), Google Analytics, Adobe Acrobat Professional, and a background in photography and A/V is a plus. Ability to maintain confidentiality and have excellent written and oral communications skill with a strong attention to detail and an ability to handle multiple tasks and to work well under pressure.
This full-time position will require approximately 35 hours per week with the expectation of some nights and weekends.
